NEW WORK ⭐ Google: Experience AI - Empowering the next generation for an AI future.

What kind of future do today’s children envision?

To spotlight Google Ireland’s upcoming Experience AI programme, we asked children from Ireland to imagine the future they want and explore how AI might help bring it to life.

Experience AI is an educational initiative providing cutting-edge resources on Artificial Intelligence and machine learning for teachers and students aged 11 to 14. AI presents new opportunities for the next generation, and fostering an open mindset toward its potential is the first step.

For young people to envision a future enhanced by AI, they need to understand it, and see how it can apply in real life. This is where the Experience AI programme comes in. As Google states:

“Young people who understand how AI works will be better equipped to engage with the world around them, make informed decisions about using and creating AI applications, and choose what role AI will play in their futures. They will also gain critical thinking skills and a sense of how AI can inspire new, creative solutions to issues they care about.”

To help the children in this video envision AI’s role in their futures, we asked them not what they think will happen, but what they want for their future. By removing AI from the initial question, we let their vision shape how AI might be applied.

Nick Alden of Across The Pond, a creative lead on the project, reflected on the film:

“Personally, I like that the film goes beyond technology and AI. It challenges adults to think deeply about the world we've created and what we’re leaving behind for them.

And I love so many of the kids’ thoughts too. They truly want a fair and equal society.”
