We signed the workplace menopause pledge!

In progressive workplaces all around the world, well being taboos are being broken. But there’s one taboo that firmly remains stubbornly unspoken about  - menopause.

Despite being a natural process that affects half of the population it often takes the bottom place on an employer's well-being to-do list.

We believe that for a workplace to truly create a supportive and understanding environment for all employees, menopause has to be taken seriously and spoken about openly.

That’s why we’ve signed the Menopause Workplace Pledge created by the Wellbeing of Women and supported by Bupa Healthcare. It’s a commitment by employers to create a supportive and understanding workplace environment for employees going through menopause.

Because it’s been a taboo for so long, there’s an obvious hole of knowledge amongst so many of us, so as well as signing the pledge we welcomed Lesley Salem from Over the Bloody Moon to speak to us as part of our ‘Packed Lunch’ series.

We learnt that the symptoms of menopause can have a significant impact on an individual's work performance and overall well being. These symptoms can include hot flashes, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and mood changes. By signing the pledge, we are committing to providing support and accommodations for employees experiencing these symptoms, such as flexible working arrangements, private spaces for rest and relaxation, and access to information and resources.

Menopause affects only women, and the lack of support and understanding in the workplace can perpetuate discrimination and gender bias.

So we believe that this is an essential step in promoting gender equality and creating a more inclusive and equitable environment.

We hope this places a vital role in our commitment to our DEI values, ultimately making Across the Pond a great place to work for everyone.
