We are looking for a Senior Strategist with a keen interest in cultural research and strategy to join our team in San Francisco. This is a new role for our San Francisco office and you will be key to driving agency growth in this region, taking the strategic lead, growing our remit with existing clients and winning new business. We are looking for someone who is highly curious about human behavior and technology. You think differently and are able to inspire great creative work.
The Role:
Define the problem: What have we been asked to do, what can we do, what should we do?
Challenge assumptions & clarify so that the entire picture makes sense.
Help senior clients and team formulate better briefs and tasks and define the true nature of the problem.
Consistent ability to frame business problems in a surprising and fresh way.
Understands how and when to partner with different research, media and digital agencies.
Insight Creation: Finding things out, filtering them, rethinking them laterally to inspire.
Use cultural research and AtP’s methodology to get to insights that create social and cultural meaning for tech brands
Able to assess research findings at speed and find new knowledge and insights.
Interested in the latest and innovative research techniques and advocating their use.
Ability to identify and discuss with clients high-level opportunities as well as highly detailed briefs
Familiar with CRM, paid, owned, earned, and influencer strategies and principles.
Storytelling: Defining the idea, communicating & selling it.
Can structure and lead strategy presentations
Can hold Marketing Director level presentations.
A compelling presenter
Experience:
Recent and relevant experience developing brand and content strategies for global organizations
Tech brand experience. Experience working for large global brands would be advantageous
Strong insight generation and creative brief writing
Ability to form a strong, convincing story to influence senior clients and agency peers.
Good judge of brands and creative work, knows how to help creative get to the very best work.
Keen interest in cultural research and techniques
Good collaborator and delegator – able to get the best out of peers and clients.
Excellent presentation skills.
Good facilitation and diplomacy skills – able to build strong relationships with senior clients and consultative partners to achieve positive outcomes.
Commercially astute, able to see and act on opportunities to grow our influence
Either a very Senior Planner looking for the next step up or already a Planning Director
Personality
Collaborative and credible – someone who will be able to quickly influence and lead both senior clients and partner agencies
Must enjoy the challenge of being in the spotlight and be fast on their feet
Good interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
Someone who’s tuned in to client needs, able to adjust their approach to different groups of people and context, needs – adaptive and flexible style
