Helen Bamber Foundation

Attracting donors to the survivors of torture and trafficking charity

challenge

The Helen Bamber Foundation is a Human Rights charity supporting refugees and asylum seekers who are survivors of trafficking and torture. The charity market is crowded and the battle for donors and investors is intense. They needed a campaign that would cut-through and be instantly memorable. And capture what they do - an enormously complex array of services - in one single idea.

solution

The stories of the victims of trafficking and torture can be so horrific as to be unwatchable. We wanted to show what the Foundation does in a way that can be easily understood, viewers would be comfortable sharing and offers hope. Hand-crafted over a year, and voiced by Dame Emma Thompson, the film uses the metaphor of a broken bird (based on the brand’s icon) to show how with the Foundation’s help, recovery is possible.

Outcome

The campaign - hero film and social assets - launched recently and will run for the foreseeable future. The film is a major cornerstone of the rebrand, which is intended to give the brand a creative identity for 5-10 years.
